This visit was part of a four-day trip to Iran. On the second day of their stay in Iran, they attended the 14th Biennial Congress of the Iranian Ceramic Society and the 4th International Conference on Ceramics held at the Olympic Hotel in Tehran, where they delivered keynote speeches on microwave dielectric ceramics and the latest achievements in this field. Following their visit, the Hangzhou Dianzi University professors attended a meeting presided over by the Vice President of Meybod University, Dr. Yahya Mirhosseini; the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Somayeh Mousavi; the Head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Dr. Mostafa Alizadeh; and the Head of the Central Laboratory, Dr. Mohammad Raei. Dr. Hadi Barzegar Bafrooei and Dr. Mahdi Feizpour from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Meybod University also attended this meeting.
The professors from Hangzhou Dianzi University introduced their university and its history, stating that it is one of China's leading universities in the field of “Applied Electronics.” HDU was established in 1956 and currently has approximately 16,000 undergraduate and 4,000 graduate students. Nearly 800 international students, most of whom are undergraduates, are also studying at this university. According to the Shanghai Ranking Institute, HDU's global ranking is between 501 and 600.
In this meeting, the conditions for holding a joint Master's program in “Electronic Materials and Electroceramics” and how to exchange graduate students and faculty members between Meybod University and Hangzhou Dianzi University faculties were discussed. Recognizing the mutual potential and interests, both parties agreed to finalize and formalize the outcomes of this meeting with the planned visit of the President of Meybod University to Hangzhou Dianzi University in China, scheduled for January 2025.
The active involvement of students such as Mr. Mehdi Rashidi, a second-year Master's student in Materials Engineering - Electroceramics at Meybod University, who delivered a presentation on his project under the mentorship of Assistant Professors Dr. Barzegar Bafrooei and Dr. Feizpour, underscores the impact of their work in this collaboration. Mr. Rashidi’s project on “the development of microwave dielectric ceramics focusing on substituting various aliovalent cations in the cordierite-based compounds” was well-received, with Professor Song expressing his willingness to assist in offering a short-term, three-month scholarship for Mr. Rashidi to join his group at HDU from March to May 2025.
After this meeting, with the presence of the officials from Meybod University and the representatives from Hangzhou Dianzi University, the Iran-China International Research Laboratory for Electronic Materials and Devices was inaugurated, which aims to connect applied projects between Iran and China in the field of electronic materials, electroceramics, and the development of related devices. Hangzhou Dianzi University in China and Meybod University in Iran will spearhead this initiative. Once both parties secure the necessary permits, Meybod University will be recognized as the leading institution in this research field in both Iran and China.
